How to Tell if a Guy is a Jerk - Tip 46 - Fanatical Football Fans

jerks, how to tell if a guy is a jerk, fanatical football fans, how to find a good man

There are fans and then there are fanatical fans*.

Regular fans are fine. Fanatical fans are, well fanatical!

Going to football games is a common and enjoyable part of Autumn for many Americans. We like our teams, our colleges, our football games.

Then there are those whose very lives center around football. Those who think life ends if their team loses, whose relationships come second to "their" team; guys who are so absorbed with their team that they can hardly function in real life.

These types of guys may be a lot of fun at the game (if you don't mind beer spilling all over you and the screaming and yelling that comes along with the craziness), but there is something a little amiss when one's identity is wrapped up in a sporting event, or more specifically, "their" team.

So, how can you tell if a guy is a fanatical football fan or a regular fan?

Here are ten easy ways to identify a fanatical football fan:

how to tell if a guy is a jerk, tip, football fanatical fans, finding a great man, 1. On game day, his body or face are painted in the colors of "his" team.

2. His car, clothing, and most other accessories are in "his" team's colors. At least one room in his house is often painted with "his" team's colors.

3. He has hanging in his office or home, a poster of "his" team's schedule, so he can schedule birthdays and other family celebrations around the games.

4. His social events are centered on "his" team's games, and are limited to, tailgate parties, hanging out at the local sports bar, and getting ready for the next big game.

5. He has given up relationships, jobs, opportunities, and travel to watch a game, and considers the football season the highlight of his life.

6. He knows the height and weight along with all sorts of personal information of each player on "his" team.

7. He has attended at least one "fantasy football," camp.

8. He knows more, and spends more time talking and thinking about "his" football team than about his family, work, current events, or world news.

9. He has called in sick at least once due to "his" team losing a game.

10. He has more than one flat screen TV so he can watch the game as he moves throughout the house to get more snacks for the game.

Now, we can expect some of the above behavior in teenagers, or young college students but if you want a mature man and a healthy relationship, find a guy who has grown up.

Be alert to those fanatical fans who will always put you at the bottom of the list, at the end of "his" team's football roster!

*Just to be clear... I am not talking about the normal, great men who enjoy football... this post is about FANATICAL fans only!

Hi. Hi. In my country you can go and watch football (soccer) games. And of course have the risk that fans spill beer over you. Non-alcoholic beer!

Jen, I have to take a little issue with this post. Now I did not meet any one of your ten points, but I am a big fan of football.

I guess what I think you missed here is raising the possibility of the man introducing football to his significant other and together they can share in the fun of football.

I totally agree that a football game or team should not be put above ones significant other, but I do believe that a happy medium can be reached as football is something that I along with a lot of other men enjoy just like how women have specific interests they enjoy.

Let's not lump all us football fans into the same boat as the nut balls who paint their faces. :)

Hey Cord... how are you? ;-)

I guess I didn't do a good job of clarifying that I am ONLY talking about those fanatical fans...

I'm not at all speaking about football fans in general!

I think it is great to have interests, activities, and events to enjoy and certainly you are correct that a couple can enjoy a football game together! No question about it!

In fact I am a huge supporter of couples sharing activities even if they are not totally into it .... A couple watching a game together can be a lot of fun and I would encourage women to share in the interests of their partners!

I'm really just talking about those guys whose very lives center around their team. Who sleep, dream, and live football... whose lives hardly function due to the next game! And whose relationships are a far second to the team! :-)

Unless one answers in the positive to the questions they don't qualify!

LOL!

Nice to see you my friend, :-)

One more thing Cord...

I put a little note at the bottom of the post to clarify... I do not want to give the impression that I am talking about football fans in general!

I hope this helps!

Thanks a bunch!

Very true. If a man is fanatical about football or any other sport, you as his mate, will be second mate at best.
Who would willingly become a football widow.
