Advertising Jerkiness

Recently, while walking in a quaint outdoor shopping area, I noticed three slovenly looking men wearing crude t-shirts degrading women. I won't go into the details but the messages and pictures on the shirts were unkind and disgusting.

My first thought was, how inappropriate. Even if one is thinking crude and cruel thoughts why would a guy want to advertise the fact? Who would pay money for such a shirt? And how does a guy get to believe this sort of nastiness is acceptable?

Perhaps these guys thought the nasty messages were funny? Maybe they thought other guys would think they were cool? Maybe they think it makes them more manly to threat women poorly?

I'm not sure and didn't ask them. What I do believe is that any decent man would be ashamed to flaunt such disrespect toward women.

My next thought was, don't these guys have mothers, or sisters, or female friends?

Of course they do! And yet these men still find degrading women appropriate and enjoyable.

Then I wondered, what woman would ever want to be with someone who thinks it funny, appropriate, or even decent to treat women in such a way as was demonstrated on these shirts?

I hope there is not a woman who reads this who would be with a guy who is parading around sending the message that women are objects to be used and abused by crass and disgusting guys.

Trust me... great guys do not think it is funny or humorous to disrespect women. Great guys do not find their manliness in nastiness. And... great men do not applaud or celebrate those guys who do.
