Violence - When Will It End?

violence, how to tell if a guy is a jerk, angry men, abuse and violence
Not far from my home, an angry man massacred over thirty people yesterday in the deadliest shooting in our countries history.

This horrific act reminds us that our society has largely accepted, and often revered violence. The media, video games, news programs, advertisements, movies, lyrics, and entertainment are filled with violence of every kind.

The violence in our society is so prevalent that we hardly notice how horrific and wide spread it is, until a tragedy such as the one at Virginia Tech occurs.

It has got to stop!

Men who believe violence is a part of their manhood do not make for good partners.

Men who think violence is the way to solve problems, find enjoyment, or have a few laughs are not the kind of men who exemplify decency and respect.

Men who think they are showing their power through their violence, intimidation, and control are not the type of man who enriches society.

If a man displays violence toward others, you can be quite certain he will be violent toward you. In fact, typically, one's partner is where violence is most apt to happen.

A violent relationship is not about love... it is about power and control. It is unhealthy and will be filled with sorrow and heartbreak.

My hope is that this recent tragedy will awaken us and help us realize the unhealthiness of our society. As we take a look at the violence that is filling our minds and hearts each day, may we decide enough is enough.

May we each look into our lives and behaviors, and release violence however it appears. May we let go of the violent images, turn off that which promotes violence and harm, and embrace all that brings goodness and healing into our lives and society!

My deepest wishes for peace and healing to all those who are filled with sorrow and heartbreak today.
