Men who think they are the King of the Castle, who rule and reign in their homes are often not the sort of guy who makes for a great husband and father.
The idea that a man owns his wife and children, that he is "in charge," or that his wife must follow him as he directs, demands, controls the family is an outdated and archaic model for very good reason.
Of course the idea of men ruling their home is ancient but it is still not dead.
Today there are still those men who cling to the idea that they can control their wives, that they can demand, command, and otherwise rule over their subjects, meaning wives and children.
In a world that is beginning to bring equality into the world, many men and women are finding that a healthy partnership, a loving family, and a strong marriage means that a couple come together as equal partners, both dedicated to each other and their family.
Men who resist equality in a partnership, who enjoy subjugating women, who find their ego boosted as they rule over women, are not the type of men who will bring to a relationship, respect, honor, and true love.
If you want a great man who will make a great husband or long term partner, if you want a partnership that is is based on equality and respect, if you want a marriage that encourages the full participation of both spouses, best find a man who is not wishing to be the ruler over his wife and children

a lot of women i know want the man to be dominant and in charge
I don't know any woman who wants the man to be dominant and in charge. It's doesn't have to be all or nothing. In a partnership, sometimes one person leads and the other follows, and vice-versa.
